About Baker Range Front Lighthouse
Also known as: #Baker Range Front
This navigational aid on the Delaware River was established in 1902 with a temporary post light. By 1904, the light moved to an upstairs window in a keeper's house. A square skeletal tower, 11 meters high with a gallery and platform on piles, was constructed in 1924 and served for many years. The current, more modest 12-foot tower on piles replaced the 1924 structure. The station is located off the southwestern tip of Reedy Island, approximately 800 meters east of Port Penn.
Why it matters: The Baker Range Front Light is important for guiding vessels navigating the Delaware River around Reedy Island and Port Penn, helping them avoid hazards.
