This cylindrical concrete lighthouse, standing 12 meters tall, once guided vessels into Aomori harbor. Its broadly conical structure featured a lantern with a sharply peaked roof. Showing a red light with a single flash every 4 seconds, it had a geographic range of 11 nautical miles. Located on the west breakwater protecting the ferry terminal, it was situated approximately 1.7 kilometers from the nearest port. The light was removed in 2019, concluding its service.
Why it matters: The lighthouse was essential for the safe navigation of ferries and other vessels entering the Aomori harbor ferry terminal, marking the western edge of the breakwater.
