An oil tanker took a direct hit from an unknown projectile in the Gulf of Oman on August 24. The tanker was roughly nine nautical miles northeast of Ash Shishah, on Oman's northern coast, when the strike hit its engine room and left it dead in the water.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations reported the incident. Crew were safe. The tanker's name was not released.
