AIDAnova Rescues Four from Burning Fishing Boat in Skagerrak
AI illustrationA tender from AIDAnova pulled four fishermen from a liferaft in the Skagerrak on Sunday, 18 October, after their Danish-flagged fishing boat caught fire and burned in Norwegian waters.
AIDAnova was midway through its regular Kiel-to-Bergen run. Color Line's SuperSpeed 1 also diverted and held nearby as the response unfolded. JRCC Southern Norway took charge of coordinating the rescue. Baird Maritime reported the four men were recovered by 15:35 local time, with a Norwegian rescue helicopter from Sola turning back once all were confirmed safe and a Danish helicopter also standing down.
None of the four was hurt. AIDAnova continued north and arrived in Bergen on schedule. The fishing boat's name and the nationalities of its crew were not released.
