Yafo Lighthouse

About Yafo Lighthouse
Also known as: Yafo (Jaffa)
This cylindrical concrete tower, standing 10 meters tall, was constructed in 1936. It features a lantern, gallery, and four ribs, with its exterior painted in horizontal red and white bands. The current structure replaced an earlier lighthouse established in 1862, which itself followed a tower built in 1875. Although officially deactivated in 1966, recent observations indicate it may be unofficially active. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's presence on the historic Jaffa waterfront contributes to the area's cultural appeal.
