Located on a small island in the Zhū Jiāng estuary, west of Shenzhen, the Xīyádǎo Lighthouse is a white concrete tower measuring 8 meters in height. The light originates from a focal point 25 meters above sea level. It flashes white once every six seconds, with a range of 14.3 nautical miles. The structure is situated about 2.4 kilometers from Da Chan Bay, the closest port. Access is restricted to watercraft, and the site is not accessible to the public.
Why it matters: The Xīyádǎo Lighthouse serves as a navigation aid for the busy Zhū Jiāng estuary, a main route to Shenzhen's ports. Its light assists maritime traffic in navigating the channels and marking hazards within this significant economic waterway.
