The Xīnghǎi Lighthouse stands on the west side of the harbor entrance at Xīnghǎi, situated on the south side of the Dàlián peninsula. This cylindrical stone tower, measuring 17 meters in height, features a round hourglass shape with a lantern and gallery. Its light flashes white once every 4 seconds, visible for 23.6 nautical miles. The focal height of the light is 88 meters above sea level. While the site is open to the public, the tower itself remains closed to visitors. The lighthouse is located near the Dagang port, 4.6 kilometers away.
Why it matters: The lighthouse marks the entrance to Xīnghǎi harbor, serving cruise ships and other vessels navigating the southern coast of the Dàlián peninsula. Its distinctive hourglass tower makes it a notable landmark.
