A 18-meter cylindrical concrete tower, painted white with a red lantern, was built in 2006 atop the small island of Xīmǎ'āndǎo. This island lies about 3 kilometers southeast of Shāojīdǎo and the same distance southwest of Hǔxiàoshédǎo. The lighthouse emits a white flash every 5 seconds from a focal height of 99 meters. Its geographic range extends to nearly 25 nautical miles, marking a landfall approach for the port of Yángshān, located 2.5 kilometers away. The structure includes a lantern and gallery.
Why it matters: This lighthouse serves as an indispensable landfall light for maritime traffic approaching the major port of Yángshān, aiding mariners in navigating the island approaches from the open sea.
