About Xiǎojīndǎo Lighthouse
Also known as: Xiǎojīndǎo (Xiǎojīn Dǎo, Hsiao-chin)
This hexagonal concrete lighthouse stands on a small island at the mouth of Huángmáo Bay. Built in 2013, it replaced an earlier structure. The tower is white and measures 5 meters in height, with the light positioned 84 meters above sea level. It emits a single white flash every 6 seconds, visible for 23.1 nautical miles. The island is accessible only by boat, and while the site is open to the public, the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse provides a critical visual aid for vessels navigating the entrance to Huángmáo Bay, a significant waterway for local shipping.
