Xiǎocàiyuán Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Xiǎocàiyuán Lighthouse
This cylindrical lighthouse, painted with red and white horizontal bands, stands 12 meters tall. Its structure features a round tower with a flared top. It is situated at the end of a 1.25-kilometer breakwater that extends southward from Jinping, a small island northwest of Sìjiāo. This breakwater creates a large protected harbor on the north side of Sìjiāo. The lighthouse ceased operations in 2010, though a removal notice issued that year by the Shànghǎi MSA did not result in its demolition.
Why it matters: The lighthouse was essential for guiding vessels into the protected harbor north of Sìjiāo, marking the end of the extensive breakwater.
