Wàimǎlángshān Lighthouse

The Wàimǎlángshān lighthouse is a hexagonal cylindrical concrete tower situated on a small island approximately 2.5 kilometers from the south coast of Sìjiāo. Built in 1996, the 10-meter-tall structure is covered with white tiles and features a gallery. Its light emits a white flash every six seconds from a focal height of 69 meters, providing a geographic range of 21.3 nautical miles. The lighthouse is located in Shengsi County, Zhejiang province, China, and is situated about 3.3 kilometers from the nearest port, Maji Shan. The tower's construction material is concrete, and it is operational as of its first lighting in 1996.

Why it matters: This lighthouse is important for maritime traffic navigating the waters off the south coast of Sìjiāo, providing a critical white flash every six seconds that helps guide ships safely past the small island it occupies.
