About Wǔcāng Gǎng Lighthouse
This hexagonal concrete tower stands 18 meters tall, painted with green and white horizontal bands. Its light has a focal height of 20 meters and emits a green flash every 4 seconds, visible for 13.2 nautical miles. The lighthouse is situated on the east side of the Wǔcāng fishing port entrance, at the northernmost mouth of the Yangtze River. Approximately 12 kilometers from the open sea, it is located near Qidong. While the grounds are open to visitors, the tower itself remains closed to the public.
Why it matters: The lighthouse serves as a key reference for the fishing fleet operating from Wǔcāng port. Its position marks a significant waterway at the northernmost mouth of the Yangtze River.
