About Vishakhapatnam Lighthouse
Also known as: Vishakhapatnam (Old Harbour)
This cylindrical stone lighthouse, standing 18 meters tall, was built in 1903 and first lit the same year. It features a red tower with white trim and a round stone structure topped with a lantern. In 2004, the lighthouse site was transferred to the Vishakhapatnam Urban Development Authority and subsequently developed as the Kids Pride Adventure Park. The original lantern has been removed, and an observation platform has been added, allowing visitors to enjoy panoramic views. The structure remains open to the public.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is significant for its repurposing as a public attraction within the Kids Pride Adventure Park, offering visitors a unique vantage point over the coastal landscape.
