About Villarino Partido Lighthouse Lighthouse
The Villarino Partido Lighthouse, a cylindrical concrete tower completed in 1925, stands 62 meters tall and is painted with black and white horizontal bands. Its lantern and double gallery surmount the round, tapered structure. Situated on the 40-kilometer-long Península Verde, it is located about 30 miles northeast of Pedro Luro, marking El Rincón. The lighthouse emits two white flashes followed by one white flash every 40 seconds, visible for 20.6 nautical miles. This staffed station is the southern landfall light for the seaports of Bahía Blanca.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the southern approach to the Bahía Blanca estuary, guiding vessels to Puerto Rosales and other seaports. Its construction as one of the world's tallest concrete lighthouses represents a significant engineering achievement.
