About Valsad Khadi Lighthouse
Also known as: #Valsad Khadi (Bulsar Khari)
A square steel skeletal tower, painted white, stood 30 meters tall with a gallery and lantern. The station was first established in 1866 with a mast light. This was later replaced by a taller mast in 1930. The current steel tower was constructed in 1966 and remained active until 2018. Following its deactivation, the structure was removed. Its operational history spanned over a century, beginning with the initial light in 1866.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's long history, dating back to 1866, highlights its continuous role in maritime safety for the Valsad region. The progression from an early mast light to a steel skeletal tower demonstrates the adaptation of navigational aids to meet evolving maritime needs.
