The Bhatkal Lighthouse, a cylindrical masonry tower standing 14 meters tall, was first lit in 1959. This structure replaced an earlier stone post light dating from 1936. The tower is painted white and features a lantern and gallery. Its focal height is 56 meters, providing a geographic range of 19.5 nautical miles. The light emits a single white flash every 20 seconds. The station itself was originally established in 1891.
