Tuzla Burnu Lighthouse is located on a sandy point in the southeastern Sea of Marmara, marking the approach to Gemlik. The current structure is a 12-meter tall cylindrical tower made of concrete and fiberglass, with a focal height of 14 meters. Its distinctive shape is described as a round barbell on a square concrete platform. The light emits a single white flash every 10 seconds, visible for 11.6 nautical miles. This modern tower replaced an earlier skeletal structure. The site is accessible to the public, but the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides vessels approaching Gemlik, a significant port in the Sea of Marmara, past the sandy point at the entrance.
