The Trincheira lighthouse, built in 1948, is an octagonal masonry tower standing 8 meters tall. The focal height of the light is 9 meters, with a geographic range of 10 nautical miles. The lighthouse is located on the north side of the Rio São Francisco do Sul estuary in Itapoá. This structure has faced threats from beach erosion, prompting the placement of stones and, around 2016, the construction of a sea wall and protective fill.
