Also known as: Tónggǔzuǐ (Tónggǔ Zuǐ, Tungku Chaio, Tonkon Point)
This lighthouse is located on the easternmost point of Hainan island, on a cape approximately 55 kilometers east of Wenchang City. The current cylindrical concrete tower, completed in 2018, stands 54 meters tall and features a white exterior with a narrow green horizontal band and a black vertical stripe. Its vase-like shape is topped with a lantern and gallery. The light emits a white flash every 8 seconds from a focal height of 186 meters, visible for over 32 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse marks the easternmost tip of Hainan, guiding vessels along coastal and international shipping routes. Its unique architectural design combines modern aesthetics with its navigational function.
