About Tiên Sa Lighthouse
Also known as: Tiên Sa (Mũi Đà Nẵng, Sơn Trà, Cape Tourane)
Tiên Sa Lighthouse, also known as Mũi Đà Nẵng, was established in 1903. The lighthouse stands 9 meters tall, constructed of concrete with a round cylindrical masonry tower topped by a lantern and gallery. Its white tower is distinguished by a single yellow horizontal band. The focal height of the light is 158 meters, casting a white flash every 10 seconds. It is located approximately 6.5 kilometers from the nearest port, Da Nang, on the Sơn Trà Peninsula, a landform extending into the South China Sea.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides ships entering and exiting Da Nang Bay, warning them of the Sơn Trà headland, a significant navigational hazard.
