About Tel Aviv (Reading, Tel Kudadi, Hayarkon, Auja) Lighthouse
The Tel Aviv Lighthouse, erected in 1935, is a 17-meter-high cylindrical structure composed of stone and concrete. It rests upon a circular stone base. The tower itself is cylindrical concrete, with a square upper section, and is capped by a small lantern room. Its exterior is white, accented by four black panels applied to each side. Previously referred to as Reading, Tel Kudadi, Hayarkon, or Auja, the lighthouse is situated 0.9 km from the Tel Aviv-Yafo port.
Why it matters: This navigation aid helps vessels approaching the Tel Aviv-Yafo port, marking the shoreline near the Yarkon River mouth. The distinctive black panels on its white surface assist with daytime recognition.
