About Stora Jetée Est Lighthouse
Also known as: #Stora Jetée Est
The Stora Jetée Est lighthouse, a 9-meter pyramidal tower with a gallery, was painted white and featured a small green lantern. It stood at the end of the breakwater for Stora, a fishing port located about 5 kilometers northwest of Skikda, Algeria. This structure served as a navigational aid for maritime traffic entering or leaving the harbor. Its exact construction date is not known, and it was eventually removed from its original position. The site remains open, but the tower itself is no longer present.
Why it matters: The lighthouse marked the harbor entrance for local fishing vessels navigating the coastal waters of the busy fishing region.
