Built in 1894, the Sousaki Lighthouse is a cylindrical stone tower standing 7.5 meters tall. Its focal plane reaches 10 meters above sea level. The structure consists of a round rubblestone tower with a lantern and gallery, connected to a single-story rubblestone keeper's house. It emits a green light, featuring one green flash every 10 seconds. This lighthouse is situated on a point of land about 4 kilometers east of Isthmia, on the Saronic Gulf. Its light has a geographic range of 10.4 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is not accessible.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the eastern entrance to the Corinth Canal, guiding yachts and smaller vessels. Its rubblestone construction is representative of 19th-century Greek maritime architecture.
