About Royal Lakeside Golf Club Marina Lighthouse
Also known as: Royal Lakeside Golf Club Marina (Bang Pakong)
This concrete lighthouse, established in 1874, stands on the northernmost inlet of the Gulf of Thailand. The octagonal cylindrical tower is painted white with narrow red horizontal bands and reaches a height of 22 meters, with its light situated 36 meters above the water. It emits a white light with one flash every 10 seconds, visible for 16.4 nautical miles. The structure also incorporates a three-story building that serves as a pilot station, requiring vessels to stop and pick up a pilot before proceeding into the Chao Phraya River. The station, managed by the Port Authority of Thailand, is accessible only by boat and is closed to the public.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is indispensable for maritime traffic entering Bangkok, particularly for large vessels navigating the shallow Bay of Bangkok and the dredged channels, serving as a critical pilot station.
