This cylindrical lighthouse, built in 1895, stands 44 meters tall on a headland near Thyna, approximately 15 kilometers southwest of Sfax. Its tower is painted with red and white horizontal bands and features a lantern and gallery. The lighthouse structure is attached to a two-story keeper's house. Its light, white and flashing every 5 seconds, can be seen for 19.4 nautical miles. The lighthouse underwent a repainting in 2015.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is important for maritime traffic navigating the approaches to Sfax by clearly marking the Thyna headland.
