About Puerto Mamonal Lighthouse
Also known as: Puerto Mamonal (Port Mamonal) (Leading Light)
This square skeletal tower stands 22 meters tall, with its focal plane at 25 meters. It displays red and white horizontal bands, and a white daymark with a red vertical stripe is attached. The light emits quick white, red, or green flashes every second. Located within a coal terminal on Cartagena's south side, it originally functioned as the rear light of an entrance range. The front light was later removed after a new leading light was installed.
Why it matters: The light guides vessels entering the commercial harbor of Cartagena, with its color changes indicating specific channels for safe passage.
