Constructed in 1856, the Psitalia Lighthouse is a 14-meter-high cylindrical stone tower with a lantern and gallery, adjoined by a single-story stone dwelling for the keeper. This structure, located on the eastern edge of Psitalia island, is 0.4 kilometers from Piraeus. Its white light emits a 15-second cycle flash, observable up to 18.2 nautical miles. The light's focal plane is 47 meters above sea level.
Why it matters: The lighthouse signifies the main entrance to Piraeus, Greece's primary port, offering navigation aid for ships entering from the Saronic Gulf.
