About Psaromyta Lighthouse
Psaromyta Lighthouse, constructed from stone in 1894, is situated on the north side of the Gulf of Corinth. The tower is cylindrical, measures 9 meters in height, and is composed of unpainted rubblestone. It features a white lantern room with a dark green roof. The light's focal plane is 65 meters above sea level, emitting a white flash (Fl W 15s) visible up to 20.8 nautical miles. The structure consists of the round rubblestone tower, a gallery, and an attached 1-story rubblestone keeper's dwelling. It is positioned southeast of Agios Nikolaos, within the Municipal Unit of Tolofona.
Why it matters: This lighthouse serves as a navigation aid for the Psaromyta cape area in the northern Gulf of Corinth, an active shipping route. Its stone construction reflects late 19th-century lighthouse architecture in Greece.
