The Pouto Point lighthouse is a small, cylindrical fiberglass tower painted white with a red roof. Standing 3 meters tall, its light is situated 5 meters above the water, providing a geographic range of 8.4 nautical miles. It emits a white flash every five seconds. Originally marking the Kaipara North Head, the structure has since been relocated and now stands beside the entrance road to the Dargaville Museum. Although the tower is closed to the public, the site remains accessible for visitors.
Why it matters: The lighthouse preserves a piece of local maritime history, offering insight into the navigational aids that once served the Kaipara Harbour.
