A cylindrical masonry tower, painted red, stands 10 meters tall and was first lit in 1913. The lighthouse is attached to a 1-story keeper's house, also constructed of masonry. Its light characteristic is a single white flash every 7 seconds, visible for nearly 19 nautical miles. The focal plane reaches 51 meters above sea level. This structure is situated at the end of the N536 highway, about 2.5 kilometers south of Lagos, within the Faro region.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the Ponta da Piedade headland, a significant navigational point along the southern coast of Portugal.
