About Píngniúyǔ Lighthouse
This concrete lighthouse, built in 1988, stands 13 meters tall atop a reef southeast of Huángqízhèn. The hexagonal pyramidal structure is painted white and its light has a geographic range of 11 nautical miles. Its light characteristic is a white flash every 10 seconds, observed from a focal height of 12 meters. The station was first established in 1955, predating the current tower. It is located in Lianjiang County, Fujian, about 1.8 kilometers from the nearest port.
Why it matters: The lighthouse warns vessels of the reef it occupies, a hazard southeast of Huángqízhèn, and guides local shipping.
