This cylindrical stone tower, standing 6 meters tall, was built and first lit in 1881. It is situated at the westernmost point of Aegina island in the Saronic Gulf. The lighthouse emits a white light with a characteristic of one white flash every 15 seconds. Its focal height reaches 11 meters, providing a geographic range of 10.7 nautical miles. The site is open to visitors, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is important for navigation at Aegina's western tip, guiding vessels through the Saronic Gulf. Its light characteristic aids the considerable ferry and leisure traffic in the area.
