Location & Light Range
About Piraeus Molos Vasileus Georgios Lighthouse
This concrete tower, built in 2014, stands 10 meters high at the end of the north breakwater mole marking the entrance to Piraeus's inner harbor. Painted white with a single red horizontal band, its cylindrical structure reaches a focal height of 14 meters. The lighthouse emits a green light with a single flash every 10 seconds, visible for 11.6 nautical miles. It replaced an earlier tower that was damaged in November 2013 by the cruise ship MSC Magnifica. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for guiding ferries, cargo ships, and cruise liners into Greece's largest port, precisely marking a critical harbor entrance.
