About Orhisaari Lighthouse
Constructed in 1903, Orhisaari lighthouse is a 22-meter white, square pyramidal skeletal tower. It features a lantern and gallery at its summit. Located on a skerry south of Kramppi, it identifies a major turn in the waterway approaching Turku. The structure's height was extended to double its original measurement in 1938. The light operates with a Q(2) WRG 6s characteristic, displaying two rapid white flashes followed by a red or green light every six seconds, indicating different sectors. The location is accessible, but the tower is not open to the public.
Why it matters: The Orhisaari lighthouse, with its directional light, marks a sharp turn in the main passage to Turku, warning vessels of the necessary course alteration.
