An octagonal concrete tower, 23 meters in height, was completed in 1995 on the highest point of Bạch Long Vĩ Island. The structure includes a lantern and gallery atop an octagonal, two-story keeper's house. Its yellow and grey tower emits a white light, characterized by a single flash every 10 seconds. This lighthouse is situated in the central Gulf of Tonkin, approximately 56.7 kilometers from the nearest port at Cam Pha. The geographic range of its light is 22.6 nautical miles. The tower's focal height reaches 80 meters above sea level.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks a significant shipping lane in the central Gulf of Tonkin and assists in defining the maritime boundary between Vietnam and China.
