The Mòyédǎo Lighthouse, constructed in 1956, is a cylindrical stone tower standing 27 meters tall. It emits a white flash every 15 seconds, visible for 14.9 nautical miles. The tower features a lantern and gallery, and is attached to a 1-story stone keeper's house. Originally built in 1883, the first lighthouse was destroyed during World War II, with a temporary light serving until the current structure was completed. The lighthouse is situated on an island near Dàzhuāng, in Rongcheng City, now connected to the mainland by causeways.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides maritime traffic around the southeastern corner of the Shāndōng Peninsula, ensuring safe passage for vessels in the region.
