A concrete tower standing 9 meters tall, the Mòdǒu Zhōu lighthouse is situated on an island that marks the north side of the entrance to Shādī Wān. This protected harbor lies along the southwest coast of Shàngchuān. The light emits a white flash every four seconds and has a geographic range of 16.6 nautical miles. Its focal height reaches 37 meters above sea level. The lighthouse is accessible only by boat. Previous records indicated a different structure, a square concrete pile, at this location.
Why it matters: This light guides vessels into Shādī Wān, a protected harbor on the southwest coast of Shàngchuān, ensuring safe passage into sheltered waters.
