Location & Light Range
About Manora Point Lighthouse
Constructed of stone in 1889, the Manora Point Lighthouse stands 38 meters tall on the Manora Peninsula. Its cylindrical, round tower is topped with a lantern and gallery. The seaward side displays red and white horizontal bands, while the landward side remains unpainted. A light on a 7.5-second cycle projects white light visible for 18.4 nautical miles. The lighthouse is situated on the southwest side of Karachi Harbour, in the Sindh region of Pakistan, bordering the Arabian Sea. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the Manora Peninsula, guiding vessels into Karachi Harbour and sheltering them from monsoon winds, thus safeguarding shipping lanes.
