About Malpe Lighthouse
Also known as: Malpe (St. Mary's Island)
Constructed in 1901, the Malpe Lighthouse is a 4.5-meter-tall round cast iron structure painted red, topped with a gray metallic dome. It stands beside its modern replacement, having been inactive since 1973. Originally, its light shone red and was characterized by a single white flash every three seconds. The tower's focal height reaches 29 meters, providing a geographic range of 15.1 nautical miles. This older lantern now serves as a historical marker near the active Malpe port.
