About Malindi Lighthouse
This steel skeletal tower, standing 13 meters tall, is painted with black and white horizontal bands. Its focal height reaches 25 meters above sea level, emitting a white light with one flash every 10 seconds. Located on a promontory on Mnarani Road, it overlooks the south side of Malindi's harbor. The lighthouse has a geographic range of 14.3 nautical miles and is situated approximately 170 meters south of the Pillar. While the lighthouse grounds are accessible to the public, climbing the tower is not permitted.
Why it matters: The lighthouse warns vessels of the promontory on the south side of the harbor entrance, ensuring safe passage for maritime traffic approaching Malindi.
