Constructed in 1894, Long Châu Lighthouse is a cylindrical gray stone tower rising 30 meters from the center of a two-story masonry keeper's house. The structure sits on the highest point of Xuy Nong Châu, the largest island in the Long Châu archipelago. Its focal plane is 110 meters above sea level, and it emits a white flash every 4 seconds. This lighthouse is situated in the Gulf of Tonkin, approximately 19.8 kilometers from Hon Gay. The station remains operational, though the site and tower are closed to the public.
Why it matters: This lighthouse serves as the primary landfall light for vessels approaching the ports of Hải Phòng and Hạ Long.
