This cylindrical concrete lighthouse, built in 1960, stands 12.5 meters tall on a dangerous reef approximately 10 kilometers southwest of Níyǔshān. Its hexagonal structure is covered with white ceramic tiles, and it emits a white light that flashes once every 12 seconds. Located on the approach to Wēnzhōu from the southeast, this navigational aid warns vessels away from submerged hazards. The lighthouse station was first established in 1955, with the current tower being lit five years later. Its focal height reaches 12 meters, providing a geographic range of 11 nautical miles.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is critical for maritime safety, specifically guiding ships approaching Wēnzhōu from the southeast and warning them of a dangerous reef in a busy shipping route.
