Location & Light Range
About La Caloma Lighthouse
This white skeletal steel tower stands 8 meters tall on the main quay, guiding vessels into the harbor of La Caloma. With a focal height of 30 meters, its white light emits a single flash every 15 seconds, visible for more than 15 nautical miles. Situated on the west side of the fishing port, approximately 0.1 km from the nearest port facilities, it serves an important role in maritime traffic management. The site is open to visitors, though the tower itself remains closed to the public. This structure has long provided a navigational aid for the waters in this Cuban region.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is indispensable for the significant fishing fleet operating out of La Caloma, providing critical guidance for safe entry and departure from the harbor, thereby supporting local economic activity.
