About Kórakas Lighthouse
Also known as: Kórakas (Náousa)
Built in 1887, the Kórakas lighthouse is a 10-meter cylindrical stone tower topped with a lantern and gallery. It is situated on a promontory that shelters the west side of Náousa harbor. The tower is attached to a single-story stone keeper's house. It emits a white light with a characteristic of one white flash every 12 seconds, visible for over 20 nautical miles. The lighthouse is operational, with the site open to visitors but the tower closed. The nearest port is Naousa, approximately 1.5 kilometers away.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for safe navigation into and out of Náousa harbor, warning vessels of the headland and rocky shore to the west.
