About Kombi Lighthouse
A 7-meter cylindrical stone tower built in 1912 stands on Kombi, a small island west of the entrance to Moudhros Bay on the south coast of Lemnos. The original structure, which featured a gallery and was attached to a one-story stone keeper's house, has had its lantern removed. Modern navigational duties are now handled by a nearby skeletal tower. The focal height of the original light was 61 meters, with a geographic range of 20.2 nautical miles, emitting white flashes every 6 seconds. The site is accessible by boat from the nearest port of Moudhros, 4.6 kilometers away.
Why it matters: This former Ottoman-era lighthouse marks the western approach to Moudhros Bay, a significant natural harbor on Lemnos.
