Ko Tao Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Ko Tao Lighthouse
A cylindrical white concrete tower stands 10 meters tall on Ko Tao. Its light is positioned 69 meters above sea level, emitting a white flash every 5 seconds. The lighthouse is located near the northeastern point of the island, which lies approximately 70 km east of the Malay Peninsula. This island, now a destination for ecotourists and scuba divers, was formerly a political prison. The lighthouse facility is not open to the public.
Why it matters: This light assists ferries traveling to Ko Tao from Chumphon and Surat Thani, contributing to the safe arrival of visitors. Its illumination also warns vessels navigating the waters surrounding the island's northeastern coast.
