Kāishāndǎo Lighthouse

Fl White 5s🇨🇳Guanyun County, CNOperational

Kāishāndǎo Lighthouse is a cylindrical concrete tower standing 12.5 meters tall, with its lantern positioned 47 meters above sea level. Painted white with red trim, the two-stage structure was first lit in 1995. It emits a white flash every 5 seconds and has a geographic range of 18.2 nautical miles. The lighthouse is situated on the highest point of a small island in the Yellow Sea, approximately 45 kilometers east of Liányúngǎng. The current structure replaced a 5-meter skeletal tower erected in 1993, which in turn succeeded a small post light removed in 1991. A restoration between 2022 and 2023 added a lantern to the tower.

Why it matters: This lighthouse provides navigational guidance in the Yellow Sea for vessels approaching Liányúngǎng and the Guànhé river, offering a more substantial aid than earlier temporary structures.
