About Khlong Yai Lighthouse
Khlong Yai Lighthouse, constructed in 2010, stands 32 meters tall as a white, skeletal metal tower. Its light emits a single white flash every 5 seconds from a focal height of 58 meters, visible for nearly 20 nautical miles. The structure overlooks the port of Khlong Yai, located 11.2 kilometers from Koh kong. The site is accessible to the public, but the tower itself remains closed. This lighthouse replaced an earlier structure with a lower focal plane, enhancing navigational capabilities in the area.
Why it matters: The Khlong Yai lighthouse aids vessels navigating the coastal waters of southeastern Thailand, assisting safe passage into and out of the port.
