About Keleyeri Lighthouse
Also known as: Keleyeri (Kaloyeri)
The Keleyeri light stands on a concrete base near Çeşme, Turkey, marking a reef at the harbor entrance. It features a cylindrical concrete tower, 9 meters tall, with its upper half painted black and the lower half yellow. The current light, operational since after 2014, emits a white flash every five seconds. This structure replaced an earlier tower that was visible in photographs from 2014. The site is accessible by boat, but the tower itself is closed to the public.
Why it matters: This light is important for guiding vessels approaching Çeşme and avoiding the reef it marks. Its distinctive black and yellow barbell-shaped tower aids in identification.
