The Kadalur Point Lighthouse, a cylindrical concrete tower built in 1909, stands 35 meters tall on a low promontory near the village of Thikkoti. Its structure is distinguished by black and white horizontal bands, with a red lantern dome. The light, visible for nearly 20 nautical miles, emits a white flash every 5 seconds from a focal height of 57 meters. This operational lighthouse serves to mark dangerous offshore shoals and the rocky reef known as Velliyamkallu, or Sacrifice Rock. The site is open to the public, and plans were announced in 2012 to develop it as a tourist attraction, following its 100th anniversary in 2009.
